Āyurvedic Abhyanga (oil) Massage
A full body massage using light touch, where warm, herbal oil is applied liberally to the skin (the largest organ of the body), incorporating long strokes towards the heart to balance your doshic constitution. A Vata, Pitta, Kapha or Tridoshic oil blend is used to pacify the doshas and bring the body into harmony. Add a Garshana Dry Brush Massage for best results. Garshana Dry Brush Massage
Our skin eliminates more than one pound of waste (including perspiration) in just one day. Stimulate circulation, production of the sweat and sebaceous (oil) glands and exfoliate dead skin with the circular motion of this massage working up towards your heart. The therapist uses raw silk gloves to invigorate the lymphatic system, enhancing blood circulation and the release of accumulated toxins by unclogging pores. Follow with an Āyurvedic Abhyanga (oil) Massage for best results.
*Avoid if your skin is sunburned, rashy or irritated.
Nasya (nasal treatment)
In āyurvedic medicine, the nose is considered the gateway for prana, or life force energy. During a nasya treatment, the head, neck and face areas of the body will be massaged to assist with opening up of the nasal passageway, followed by drops of nasya oil to be administered into the nose and back into the nasal passages. Nasya is a wonderful treatment to hep with opening up the senses, addressing dry nose in the winter months or alleviating symptoms of seasonal allergies.
Shirodhara
Warm, herbalized liquid (typically oil, milk or ghee) is poured continuously over the forehead from a copper vessel. In sanskrit, "shiro" means head and "dhara" means flow. This action stimulates the pineal and pituitary glands and works on the sixth and seventh chakras. A wonderfully grounding treatment that will leave you in a zone of "zen".
Champissage (Āyurvedic head massage)
Focus is on the upper back, shoulders, neck, head and face. Enhances mental clarity by bringing stimulation to the scalp and surrounding areas of the body. Oil is applied to the skin and in the scalp. Wonderful addition to any bodywork treatment.
Padabhyanga (Āyurvedic foot massage)
Āyurvedic foot massage consists of warm herbal oil massaged into the foot to balance the doshas. Similar to the reflex points in reflexology, this treatment works with marma points as laid out in the ancient texts of āyurveda. Five of the 117 primary marma points are located on each foot.
Vishesh (deep tissue massage)
Deeper than a traditional abhyanga, vishesh focuses on breaking up adhesions and in-depth working of the muscles. tissues and fascia. Oils or lotions may be used depending on the dosha and goal of the massage.
Reiki Energy Work
Every cell in the human body holds energy and carries a natural electromagnetic frequency that it prefers to resonate with. This magnetic pulse is known as your bio magnetic field. In Ayurveda, our energy, or life force, is known as prana. Our energy helps the body heal from within; giving us all an an innate internal wisdom and the power to heal ourselves. Reiki taps into the energy that connects individuals with their higher self. During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands on or just above a client's body, conducting universal energy out through their hands where it flows into the client's body to promote healing, overall wellness and homeostasis. You are fully clothed during this session.
Chakra Balancing
Our seven energy centers align the spine of our body in correlation with our organs, nerve centers and emotions. If a chakra becomes blocked it can lead to imbalances or illness. By working with the energy of the chakras the energy flow is opened to move freely and fluidly. Chakra balancing may incorporate aspects of massage, energy work, āyurvedic remedies (including essential oils), yoga asana, pranayama, meditation and mantra depending on clients needs.
Marmāni Therapy
Marma points are the energetic pathways for healing the body, mind and spirit. "Marma" in Sanskrit means mortal or vulnerable point, and acts as an access point or doorway into the nadis (energetic pathways) of consciousness. Āyurvedic texts map 117 marma points in the body and these points influence the flow of prana (life force) using awareness, intention, essential oils, tuning forks and light pressure. Clients are fully clothed during this treatment.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy has been practiced all over the world for centuries. During the session, the practitioner applies lubricant to the area being treated, then plastic cups are placed on the skin and a vacuum is created by suctioning out the air. The skin of the client is pulled into the cup and slight reddening will occur. The therapist leaves the cup on the client’s skin for a short time, usually between 2 and 10 minutes. The cup is removed and can then be applied to another area, if desired. In some cases, the therapist will move the cup back and forth (for example, along the spinalis muscles of the spine). Cupping enhances circulation, breaks up tight fascia, increasing energy flow, deactivates trigger points, and pulls out the toxins stuck in bodily tissues.
Moon Cycle Therapy
A massage designed specifically for your menses. A lavender flax heat pack is applied to the lower back or abdomen to assist in relief from cramping. Rose + Geranium massage oil is applied during the massage, known in āyurvedic medicine for its hormone balancing properties. Designed to help with all symptoms associated with PMS, including cramping, tension, headache and bloating. Following the session, receive a teabag of herbal organic raspberry leaf tea for extra menstrual support. Monthly Moon Cycle Packages are available for ongoing regular relief as needed.
Basti (Kati, hrid or janu)
A warm oil dough dam treatment. A flour dough damn is hand created over the affected area and is filled with warm medicated oil.
Kati Basti = placed over the lower back + spine
Hrid Basti = placed over the chest + heart chakra
Janu Basti = placed over the knees
Karana Purana (ear treatment)
Warm oil is poured into the ear to sit for an amount of time before being drained with cotton balls. During this time mild massage to the head and neck regions are preformed to help the medicated oil gain passage into the ear canal.
Netra Tarpana (eye bath treatment)
Warm medicated ghee or oil is retained over and in the eyeball. Yogic eye exercises are completed to allow for absorption of the oil. Upon completion, the oil will be drained using cotton balls. A wonderful rejuvenation therapy for eye ailments of all kinds.
Shiroabhyanga
Shiroabhyanga combines a full body massage using light touch, where warm, herbal oil is applied liberally to the skin incorporating long strokes towards the heart followed by warm, herbalized liquid poured continuously over the forehead from a copper vessel. In sanskrit, "shiro" means head and "dhara" means flow. This action stimulates the pineal and pituitary glands and works on the sixth and seventh chakras. A wonderfully grounding treatment that will leave you in a zone of zen.
